Turvaperhe – Volunteer families wanted!

Turvaperhe – Volunteer families wanted!

In 2015, 300 unaccompanied minors arrived, seeking refugee status in Finland. Approximately 30 of those young people are waiting in line for their own volunteer family to help them integrate into Espoo. What they are lacking is the experience of what normal family life is like in Finland. You can help simply by inviting them along to do the things you would normally be doing. In other words, you can be a volunteer ’Turvaperhe’ family.

Come to this info session to listen to the experiences of a volunteer family and to hear what a young immigrant has to say about his integration process into Finland. We will also tell you more about the nature of the volunteer task, and how you can get involved. Then, you can decide for yourself if this is the right way for you and your family to help out.

This evening doubles as the first part of your training as a volunteer family. If you decide you want to become a volunteer family, you will receive further compulsory training for the task, as well as be offered options for further learning.

What is a ’Turvaperhe’ volunteer family?

-A meaningful way to spend family-time together

What do we hope for in a ’Turvaperhe’ volunteer family?
